Composite Bonding

Bonding is the simply the adhesive process by which dental restorative resin materials are secured to natural tooth surfaces.  Examples of where Bonding is utilized would be to fill areas of decay after decay removal, to fill in cracks or gaps between teeth, and to cover up stains and discoloration with natural teeth.

The composite resin is a putty like material that is placed on the tooth after the tooth is covered with an adhesive bonding agent. An LED light is then used to harden the resin material after which the tooth can be shaped with dental burs to create a new and natural looking restorative outcome i.e. a functional chewing tooth or a newly improved beautiful and fresh smile.

Composite restorations replace old silver amalgam fillings without fear of mercury contamination with silver amalgam fillings. When placed correctly with the seal being achieved, composite restorations can last for many years. Daily plaque build up must be removed through proper dental habits to keep these restorations lasting for years.  At our practice, we offer composite crown build-ups as a conservative  and more affordable alternative to full crown coverage. It is a safe, affordable, and attractive solution for many dental problems.
